Hotel Hollywood Roosevelt: A Glamorous Los Angeles Hotel

Our Stay at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel: An Unforgettable Road to Burning Man

This year, our journey to the iconic Burning Man began in an unexpectedly glamorous way: with a stay at the legendary Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel in Los Angeles. It was a strategic stop, an urban oasis before plunging into the Nevada desert, allowing us to relax, immerse ourselves in film history and enjoy a memorable experience.

A Hotel with History

The Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, opened in 1927, is not just a place to stay; it is a living piece of Hollywood history. Located on Hollywood's famed Hollywood Boulevard, this hotel has witnessed countless classic movie stars, and its influence on pop culture still lives on. It was here that the first Oscar Awards were held in 1929, a modest event by today's standards, but one that marked the beginning of a tradition.

Over the years, it has hosted such iconic figures as Marilyn Monroe, Charlie Chaplin and Clark Gable. Marilyn, in fact, lived here for two years and her spirit seems to still be present in the hotel. In fact, some guests claim that her ghost haunts the suite where she used to stay. While we didn't have any paranormal encounters (fortunately!), it's fascinating to think that we walked the same hallways as these legends.

A Space of Luxury and Style

From the moment we walk through the lobby doors, we feel the classic charm that envelops the hotel. The high ceilings, carved wood details and Art Deco furniture create an atmosphere that seems to transport you back to the golden age of Hollywood. Despite its rich history, the Roosevelt doesn't feel dated; on the contrary, it has managed to strike the perfect balance between its historical legacy and modern amenities.

Our room was spacious, with a mix of vintage decor and contemporary touches. The windows overlooked the pool, famous for having been the setting for countless movie star parties. Today, it remains an iconic place to relax and enjoy the California sun, and we took the opportunity to take a dip before continuing on our way to Burning Man.

Enjoying the Experience

The hotel offers a variety of experiences for its guests. One of our favorites was the Tropicana bar terrace, a perfect place to enjoy a cocktail while watching the sun set over Hollywood. The atmosphere there is relaxed yet elegant, with a mix of locals and visitors giving it a vibrant feel.

Nor could we miss the hotel's culinary offerings. We dined at The Barish, the restaurant run by award-winning chef Nancy Silverton, where we enjoyed a menu inspired by Italian cuisine. Each dish was a delight, with fresh ingredients and flavor combinations that surprised us.

If you ever plan a trip to Los Angeles or, like us, need a memorable stop before continuing on to Burning Man, we highly recommend the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. Its combination of history, comfort and style makes it an unforgettable experience.
